Fire Technologist

Brian was a Battalion Chief with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, Montgomery County, Maryland. At the time of his retirement from the fire service in December of 2006 he was assigned to Montgomery County’s Homeland Security Department. Mr. Geraci has over 30 years of fire service experience and was a charter member of the County’s Hazardous Incident Response Team and Bomb Squad where he served as a team leader for both teams. Mr. Geraci has certifications as a Fire Investigator, Fire/Explosive Investigator, Hazardous Materials Technician and Fire Inspector III. He also held certifications as a bomb technician and law enforcement officer during his time in the fire marshals office. Mr. Geraci spent over 24 years within the Office of the Fire Marshal as an Inspector, Investigator, and Supervisor of the Field Fire Inspection Section and Commander of the Fire Code Enforcement Section and the Fire and Explosive Investigations/Bomb Squad. He has attended numerous conferences, seminars and courses in the area of Hazardous Materials, WMD, Fire/Explosion Investigations and Fire Code Enforcement to include numerous courses from the National Fire Academy. Mr. Geraci is a member of a number of organizations including the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators, International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), National Association of Fire Investigators, American College of Forensic Examiners Institute and the National Fire Protection Association. Mr. Geraci has served as board member and in several officer positions including President of the MFEI Chapter of the IAAI. Mr. Geraci currently serves on the Maryland Fire Prevention Commission. Mr. Geraci has a Fire Science Certificate from Montgomery College a Certificate in Public Fire Protection Management & Administration from University of Maryland, University College and will graduate in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Science from UMUC.
